Essaouira is a port city and resort on Morocco’s Atlantic coast and its medina is protected by 18th-century seafront ramparts called the Skala de la Kasbah. Old brass cannons line the walls, and there are ocean views. Strong "Alizée" trade winds make the city’s crescent beach popular for surfing, windsurfing and kite-surfing.

The Medina of Essaouira is a UNESCO World Heritage listed city. Major problems currently are deterioration of the extensive ramparts around the Medina; and widespread violation of laws against motorized vehicles within the Medina.

OUZOUD WATERFALLS

Ouzoud means "the act of grinding grain" in Berber. This seems to be confirmed by the frequent mills in the region.

The bottom of the falls is accessible through a shaded path of olive trees. At the summit of the falls, there are a dozen old small mills that are still in use. One can also follow a narrow and difficult track leading to the road of Beni Mellal. While descending the gorges from the "wadi el-Abid" in a canyon sometimes one does not distinguish the bottom which is nearly 600 metres down.

OURIKA VALLEY

This valley is the sole location within the High Atlas Range. Ourika Valley, due to its many waterfalls and several attractions, is a very popular Ourika 1 day trip from Marrakech.

The region is inhabited by local Berber people who practice a traditional way of life. Despite its proximity location to Marrakech, it is still considered relatively unspoiled.
